Beer bottle

A beer bottle is a sealed container — typically glass — used to package, distribute and serve beer. The most common formats are the 330 ml and 500 ml glass bottle, though shapes and closures vary widely between breweries and countries.

Bottle formats and closures

Beer bottles come in brown, green or clear glass — brown being most protective against light damage ("lightstruck" flavour). Closures include the standard crown cap, swing-top (Bügelverschluss) and cork-and-cage for stronger or aged beers. Recycling and returnable bottle schemes are common across Europe, including Hungary.
