Pub Crawl Budapest FAQ
Everything you want to know before joining us — from where to meet and what to expect, to ruin bars, local drinks, and getting home safely.
Before the crawl
Do you have a pub crawl every night?
Yes! Our Budapest Pub Crawl runs every night. Meet us at Oktogon 1, in front of the Burger King, at 9 PM.
What is this pub crawl about exactly?
We take you to 4 pubs in the downtown party area — all within walking distance — including the famous ruin bars unique to Budapest. The night ends at a large local club (usually Instant / Fogas), open until 6 AM. Come to party, meet people and see the best of Budapest nightlife.
Is it cheaper to buy tickets online?
Absolutely. Online prices are always cheaper than on the door — book via the pub crawl page to get the best rate.
Do you organise private tours?
Yes! Contact us by phone, email or chat for a tailored offer. See options on our private pub crawl page.
On the night
How long is the pub crawl?
We start at 9 PM and arrive at the final club around 1:30 AM. You are welcome to stay there until 6 AM.
How many guides will there be?
We provide 1 guide per 20 people.
How can I recognise the guide?
Look for the red T-shirt, jacket or top (weather-dependent) with "Pub Crawl" printed on the back.
What if I'm late?
We wait up to 20 minutes, so arriving at 9:19 PM is fine. Later than that? Call us on +36707711775.
What should I do if I get lost during the crawl?
Check the time — we spend around 45–50 minutes at each venue. Find the guide in the red shirt, or call the number printed on your Crash Pass booklet. The number is also on our website.
What if I lose my phone?
Contact us by email, chat or phone and we'll give you the names of the bars you visited. Phones are often handed in to bartenders, so it's worth going back the next day to check.
Can I party till morning?
Definitely. Our final stop is Budapest's biggest club, open until 6 AM — stay as long as you like.
Ruin bars
What is a ruin bar?
Ruin bars are unique to Budapest. They occupy derelict Austro-Hungarian-era buildings that have been transformed into atmospheric venues — think exposed brickwork, mismatched vintage furniture and a distinct underground aesthetic. Most are in the 7th district (the party district). Our pub crawl visits the best ones, and you can also explore them with our ruin bar guide.
Which is the biggest ruin bar in Budapest?
Instant / Fogas — a merged complex of two legendary ruin bars, now one of the largest nightlife venues in Central Europe.
Do you go to Instant / Fogas on the crawl?
Yes, it is usually our final stop. You can stay and party there until 6 AM.
Drinks and local customs
What are the favourite drinks of Hungarians?
Pálinka is the classic Hungarian fruit spirit — strong and very local. Unicum (a dark herbal bitter, similar to Jägermeister) is another staple. Beer and wine are also popular across all ages.
What is Unicum?
Unicum is a Hungarian herbal liqueur drunk as a digestif or aperitif. It is slightly sweeter than Jägermeister but has a similar herbal intensity.
How much is a pint of beer in Budapest?
Around 1–1.5 euro at most bars — Budapest is very affordable compared to Western Europe.
Smoking
Is it allowed to smoke in the streets?
Yes, although smoking is forbidden at bus and tram stops.
Is it allowed to smoke in bars and clubs?
No — smoking indoors is banned in Hungary. In open-air sections of a venue it is usually permitted.
Budapest basics
Is there public transport at night?
Yes. Tram 4–6 runs non-stop around the clock. Night buses cover most of the city (route numbers start with 9, e.g. 908). The metro is closed overnight.
What currency does Hungary use?
The Hungarian Forint (HUF or Ft). The rate fluctuates — check a currency converter before you travel. Budapest also accepts euro in many tourist-facing venues, though you usually get a worse rate.
Is Hungary expensive?
No — Hungary is one of the more affordable countries in Europe. Beer costs around 1–1.5 euro, a sit-down restaurant meal around 10–15 euro.
Do people speak English in Budapest?
In Budapest, most people under 40 speak or understand English well. Outside the capital it is less common.
Where can I find more information about Budapest?
Our Budapest & Hungary FAQ covers general travel questions — transport, safety, weather, sightseeing and more.
About us
What does "pub crawl" mean?
A pub crawl (also called a bar tour or bar-hopping) is the act of visiting multiple bars in a single night, moving between them on foot or by public transport. Many European cities run organised crawls that combine nightlife with meeting fellow travellers.
Where does the word "pub" come from?
"Pub" is short for public house — a licensed establishment selling alcoholic drinks, historically the social heart of British and Irish communities. Samuel Pepys described it in the 17th century as "the heart of England".
What is AllNightCrash?
AllNightCrash was our original brand name. We simplified to Pub Crawl Budapest — same team, same crawl, simpler name.
