Grandio: Budapest's jungle ruin bar
Set inside a heritage building decorated by local street artists, Grandio blends ruin-bar atmosphere with a tropical indoor garden — one of the quirkiest stops on the Budapest nightlife trail.
What makes it special
Grandio occupies a 170-year-old heritage building whose facade has been handed over to local and international street artists — so it looks like a gallery before you even step inside. Once you're in, the centrepiece is a lush courtyard filled with plants and trees that gives the place its jungle nickname. In summer that garden is the heart of the bar; in winter, a dedicated drinking-games room keeps things going when it's too cold to sit outside.
- Location: Nagy Diófa utca 8, District VII (1075)
- Vibe: relaxed by day, lively by night, greenery everywhere
- Good for: anyone who wants a ruin bar with a bit more nature and a looser, hostel-crowd energy
The hostel upstairs means the place runs late — don't expect it to wind down early.

Visiting on the crawl
Grandio is one of the venues we feature on the Budapest pub crawl. Coming with the group means you skip the queue, start with a welcome shot, and have a guide who knows exactly when to arrive before it gets packed.
